How To Stop Living By Default

We make decisions constantly. These decisions powerfully affect the quality of our lives. Yet, we are often unaware of the decisions that we make. Many times we make decisions out of default.

For example, you make a phone call to an important client. You get on the phone and start talking without deciding a head of time what outcome you want. You have the right to decide ahead of time exactly what you want to happen. But you leave it to chance and sometimes chance works against you simply because you didn’t have the will to choose what you wanted. You do the same with interactions with friends, relatives and in relationships.

Bill Zanker, CEO and Founder of The Learning Annex - internet classes providing company, says, “You are always choosing, but you’re choosing not by conscious intent but instead by default. You can significantly increase you personal power by making as many decisions are you can, consciously and with intent.”

Want to land the client of your dreams? Then consciously choose that outcome, put it in the back of your mind and center your whole conversation with this goal in mind. Want to get a meeting with a mover and shaker in your field? Then decide this is what you want, then do everything you can to make that meeting a reality. Want to get in the door with the CEO of your company? Then make a conscious decision to find a way to see her and impress her with your savvy. With focused intent you’ll get that introduction.

When the phone rings, look at the caller ID, and before picking up the phone, decide the outcome you want to achieve by talking to that person. If you want a raise from your boss, a refund form a vendor(Becoming a Festival Vendor), a lower price on a car, or a free first class upgrade from an airline, the decide ahead of time that’s what you want.

Bill Zanker says, “If you decide everything consciously, it will go along way to creating many more positive outcomes for you. You’ll be richer, and more successful.”
